FRIDAY

Welcome to Friday. What a glorious day we have been blessed with.
Continue to pray for Drew, who had knee surgery today and Mrs. Doornbos who also had surgery today.
In Bible we worked on the lesson "Jeroboam, Are You Listening"?
We often work in groups to dig out the answers for our study sheets. Our next Bible memory will be due on Friday, October 5. it is Psalm 89: 27-29. When doing at home and sending in a report, please indicate the passage and number of helps.
In Geography we spent a few minutes doing DOG, and looking at a new site www.socialstudiesforkids.com as well as doing a little organizing for our time line project.

THURSDAY

Today we did a little activity involving listening to instructions. Ask your 7th grader about it.
I have noticed many ask questions about what was just said in class, so I hope it helps.
In Bible we just introduced the next lesson on Jeroboam, are you listening. We will work more on it tomorrow.
In Geography, we introduced the Time Line Project. We also try to do our D.O.G questions daily on Moodle. D.O.G. is Daily Oral Geography, I think we should change it to D.C.G. for Daily Computer Geography. I have found better participation when they have to electronically submit answers.

WEDNESDAY

We had a neat Middle School type day today. We all worked together this morning on Science experiments. We had some rather interesting things going on, as well as some parents making extra runs from the store to school to home and back again. Thanks parents.
When we did get our own classes back after lunch we only had 35 minutes with each group. We spent time writing a journal entry on how they experienced God in a different way at Discovery Camp. The completed work will be printed and stored in their spiritual journal notebook which we have stored in my room. They will get the book to take home at the end of their 8th grade year.
Assignments due tomorrow from yesterday: Bible-Jeroboam sheet, both sides
Geography-pp 55-59,3 questions on Moodle

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

Hey, two days in a row. I hope I am back on track. Today in Bible I gave the kids time to complete their worksheet on Jeroboam the Revolutionary. If they did not finish it in class, it becomes an assignment to be completed at home for Thursday. Tomorrow, Mr. Lowe is planning to use much of our morning working on science experiments, so we will not follow our regular schedule.
In Geography we Modled. W had another D.O.G. set of questions, as well as an assignment from pages 55-59 with questions 1,3 and 4 to be done as a journal.

MONDAY SEPT. 24

OPPS! I am red with embarrassment. I have taken some pride in getting an entry on every day of class, and now I forgot for the end of last week. Pride does come before the fall, right? Well, I am sorry. I tried to update from my daughter's house in Chicago, but I have the sign-in saved at school, and I didn't get the password correct.
Last week Thursday and Friday, we did not have any major assignments, but we did have a quiz on the first two sections of Chapter 2 in Latin America. It covered the history of ancient American civilizations and mot of the kids did very well.
Today we are doing a Bible assignment on King Jeroboam and his efforts to change the religion of the Kingdom of Israel.
The Geography plan is to review/skim pages 43-54. Some of this material we cover in our LIVING THROUGH HISTORY exploration as well.

Wednesday, Sept. 19

Well, we are back from an awe inspiring time at Camp Roger. God is really the only being that we can be in awe of, and in the beauty of the outdoors, we were awed. WOW!
My lesson plans changed a little in first block today as I looked out on a lot of not really awake kids. I did devotions, and some Geography and gave a short assignment and called it good. I asked them to read pages 34 to 38 and fill in two columns on a chart dealing with ancient civilizations in Middle America.
Don't forget memory is due this week. It is Psalm 89:1-2.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14

Today we spent a lot of time working on maps. It just so happened that we had a map assignment for both Bible and Geography. Most of the kids finished in class. I linked a new web site to my Geography Moodle site, My Wonderful World. It has lots of interesting thing to learn and do in the world of Geography. This will be the last blog until next Wednesday, our first day back after camp.

Today we did some Bible and some Geography. (We also did some Living Through History with 7a and 7c) In Bible, we worked on a map and location/question sheet from pages 205-212 which is in the last unit in the book. I feel it is important to get a basic understanding of the geography of Palestine. We will complete the map part tomorrow in class. In Geography we read pages 30-33 and answered some journal questions on the Moodle site.
Paper drive tomorrow.

Well, today the kids took their first quest on Moodle for me. It was in Geography and covered Chapter 1. Most of them did very well. We did not have any additional assignment. In Bible we worked on "Beginning of the Kingdom of Israel", pages 11-12. We started a worksheet together, and they are expected to finish it for Thursday. In it they have to read Bible passages and compare Saul and David in their relationship toward God.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

Today all we did was work on Geography. We are planning a Quest for tomorrow, I know this is a bit of a surprise, but we spend a lot of time reviewing, and I feel most are ready to go tomorrow. I will give hem a few minutes to get organized, and jot down some important things on a "smart card" which they can use during the quest. Hope to see you parents tonight at the meeting.

MONDAY SEPT. 10

Today in Bible we reviewed a history of God's people as they traveled from the individual, Jacob, to their entering the promised land. We did not have a written assignment. There still are a few kids who did not turn in last weeks memory passage. The next passage is Psalm 89: 1-2. I would love to have it due next Wednesday, but I will make it due Thursday.
In Geography we reviewed the factors that affect climate, and then I had the kids read pages 22-27, take notes as they read, and then take a quiz. They could use their note sheet, and if they did not finish, they have to complete it for Tuesday.
Paper Drive is this Friday. the following kids have signed up to work: (first shift) Heidi, Kelly W. Mackenzie, Kelly, Meredith, Emily, Jaden, Anna, Dani, //(second shift) Sara, Rachel, Tim,Nick, James, Alex, Spencer and Taylor.
