Geography: We are working quickly through the Asia book to get the Mini-Exam in this Thursday. The assignment today was to read pages 162-171 and complete both sides of a worksheet. I tried to make sure they had at least 20 minutes in class for this.

GEOGRAPHY: We watched a 4 minute video on Jerusalem from a rather secular perspective. We also wrapped up chapters 5 and 6 with an open book "test" to be used as a review for our Mini-Exam next Thursday.

Wednesday

With Tulip Time comes an earlier closing. Check todays Blue Note for changes in bus schedules for the rest of the month. Today with shorter classes, I used the opportunity to finish research with 7B on Living Through History. In 7A and C, we looked at the National Geographic recent production on "The Human Footprint". Kids, share some of the facts you learned, like what would be the result of our recycling all our aluminum cans. AS far as homeowrk, just make sure you have the test review sheet finished by Thursday.

TUESDAY (and Monday-sorry)

BIBLE: Today we took some notes on the Seleucid rulers of Palestine. The reading only assignment was pages 175-178.
GEOGRAPHY: The assignment for today was to read pages 119-127 and create an Inspiration document dealing with the climate, plant life and natural resources of southwest Asia.

In Bible today we went over aspects of Greek culture. These would be some of what the Jews would have to face when the Greeks conquered their land.
In Geography we had a 10 point quiz on Pakistan and the assignment was to read pages 101-105 about Vietnam; then complete a worksheet.
For band and non-band, there will be a test review worksheet due next Tuesday.

BIBLE: We took a quiz today on Unit 8. It was a bot hard, but I did use a grading scale to ease the pain on some.
Geography: We continued to take some notes on Hinduism. The assignment for Friday is to read pages 87-91 and do questions 1,2a, 3 and 4. Neatly!

Bible: Today we spent our time preparing for a quest tomorrow on unit 8. It will not be a big one, but it does deal with men and what they did during the time after the return from exile.
Geography: We took notes on Hinduism today.

BIBLE: Today we finished unit 8 with the chapter on Malchai. We did a little art work as we interpreted the passage from Malachi 3: 1-3a.
GEOGRAPHY: Nothing today. We had another shadowing day, so we kept it down. A for fun quiz on Earth Day was given. Keep reducing, reusing and recycling.

We spent all of our time on Geography today. The assignment is to read pp 70-75 and complete a sheet. If you are a 7B-er who did not get the sheet, substitute by doing the questions at the end of the section. (omit # 2).

Bible: We did a sheet in class on Ezra Tears His Hair. Most finished it in class today.
Geography was a short and sweet assignment, just read the section on Climate and Vegetation found on pages 65 to 69.

TUESDAY

Bible: We did a lesson with a partner on the Coming of the Messiah. This is a neat lesson where the partners compared a verse from the OT with a verse from the NT and then had to see how they related to each other.
In Geography, we only got to a map assignment on South and Southeast Asia. Both shets are due Wednesday.

MONDAY

Welcome back! We had a wonderful time in South Carolina. I hope your time was also great. Now it is time to get back to work. Our character trait today is ENDURANCE, which is a great one as we begin our final seven weeks of school. Our prayer country is Azerbaijan.
In Bible we read in class the lesson on Zechariah (OT one) We also looked at some of his visions in chapters 1-6.
In Geography we started the next section on South and Southeast Asia. The assignment is to read pages 60 to 64 and complete a fill-in sheet for Tuesday.

TUESDAY, Wednesday and Thursday

Bible, today (Wednesday) we just started a lesson we will finish tomorrow. The Heart of the Temple. We will complete this on Thursday in class, as well as do a Moodle journal on Haggai, as an in-class memory activity.
Geography, we took a test on Wednesday, so there is no assignment. We will finish watching the chilling video in North Korea on Thursday. There is a slim chance of map work on Southeast Asia.

BIBLE: Our lesson/assignment today is Skirmishes with the Samaritans. Finish the worksheet for Tuesday. memory work was collected today from Nehemiah. Our next two memory passages will be completed in class as journals or art work.
GEOGRAPHY: Our next biggie, is the test Wednesday on Chapters 1 and 2 - East Asia. We watched some of a Geographic special on North Korea.

Bible: We worked on a question/answer sheet dealing with he return of the Jews from captivity. It is due tomorrow. The next memory passage is due Monday. Nehemiah 9:5b-6.
In 7a and 7c we were able to get a start on a group map project dealing with the Koreas. We will finish it tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, we will finish that map and then Office Ko will be teaching the other half, so I will not post a blog on Friday. You have all you need to know.Our prayer country today is Japan, and our character trait is Punctuality.

In Bible today we did the lesson on the Four Beasts. This is a neat lesson that really is a bog building block for the rest of the semester. We did the work in class, as we will do tomorrow as well. The test will be Wednesday on this unit.
In Geography we read pages 50-53 about the two Koreas. After, we took a moodle quiz on this material. Most kids had an 8 or a 9 out of 9. Way to go.

Bible: Today we read a lesson in class about Ezekiel's vision of DRY BONES. All we did was a readers theater with no written work.
In Geography we read the section on Japan. The students are being asked to look carefully for what has made Japan successful in their economy and what has caused problems. Also they were to look at the role of women in Japanese society.
Pray country is Gambia. Average life expectancy is only 54 years.

TUESDAY

Today we would up doing just about all Geography. We looked at two brief videos about the Pedicab and another on the Yellow River in China. Our assignment was to read pp 40-44 and complete a sheet on China.
We did recite Romans 5:8 to complete that memory work. Our next is Ephesians 2:8-9 which will be due next week.

Bible: We worked on "The Good Shepherd" lesson today both in class and the rest is to be finished for tomorrow. We did not do Geography today since this was the first day of our 7 day visit by Officer Ko McGee from the Zeeland Police Department. He will rotate between the 7th grade classes during this and next week.

New marking period today. Is this year flying for you too?
Today in Bible we did the last lesson in unit 6, Back to Egypt. There should have been enough time to finish this is class. The kids also received a review sheet for a test on Wednesday. MEMORY WORK ON LAMENTATIONS IS DUE TOMORROW.
In Geography we did a none-counting quiz on Climate and Vegetation of Asia as a review of that section. They did really well. There was no additional assignment today.

THURSDAY

Bible: We did the lesson on the Fall of Jerusalem. They had a choice of doing the assignment on Moodle, or paper. We are getting near the end of the unit so a test is planned for next Wednesday. Bible memory work for Tuesday is Lamentations 3: 21-23.

Geography: The assignment was to read pagrs 13-16 and complete a sheet on climate in Asia.

In Geography, pages 8-12 were assigned along with a worksheet to answer as they kids carefully read the section.

TUESDAY

Whew! No snow day, we were all (except 2 kids) healthy, and we had a great morning with our European Eating Experience. After that, I had a few more food items to share with the kids, and then all we did was watch a fantastic movie about Auschwitz. That was the main title, but it dealt with what creates such a thing. It boils down to each and every one of us when we do not treat others with the respect they deserve. The home work given for today will be collected tomorrow.
Remember India and the persecuted Christians there that suffer for their faith.

MONDAY

Could this be a 5 day week? I hope we will be here tomorrow for our first (and last) European Eating Experience. There are still 13 kids who have not paid up. Please get it in tomorrow.
In Bible today we did a worksheet on "Repent and Be Saved" about Jeremiah and how no matter how hard he preached, the people did not listen.
In Geography we started our new book on Asia. Our opening assignment is page 2-7, and answer the rapid questions dealing with he 5 themes of Geography.

Today we just introduced a lesson on Jeremiah's trials. We read the text, and I think that will be about it as we try to do some catch-up (sounds like a Heinz day- don't you just relish those jokes?)
In Geography we spent time reviewing what the essay questions will be on the mini-exam scheduled for tomorrow. This will finish our academic portion of Europe. We still have our eating experience next Tuesday.
Our prayer country today is Albania. This led into the formation of Kosovo as an independent country right next store. Our character trait today is Endurance. Keep up the good fight!

Today we did Geography for almost all of the time. The Bible assignment and memory work were collected before we headed to the Ukraine. Our next to last assignment for Europe is to read pages 154 to 160 and fill in the worksheet. Also handed out was the Mini-Exam study sheet. The exam will be next week Wednesday.

GEOGRAPHY:The kids took a test on Moodle covering Bosnia-Herzegovina. The assignment was a short one. Read 172-173 and answer questions 1,2,3,and 4 for Friday.

BIBLE: Today we started a lesson on Jeremiah, a teenage prophet. We plan to finish the worksheet tomorrow in class. They should have it about half finished.
GEOGRAPHY: We saw about 3 minutes of video on Poland and the removal of Jews by Hitler, and then 3 more on Bosnia-Herzegovina. A worksheet was handed out that is due tomorrow. There is a quiz planed on the reading.

Review time will take place tomorrow. We have one more chapter to go before we have our "Mini-Exam" on Europe. Well we are back from bowling, and it looked like a good time was had by all. Our next class activity is our European eating experience which will include Dutch breakfast, French crepes, and Hungarian food. If kids sold chocolate letters and mints, they may have earned a free experience, otherwise it will be $2.00.
Bible: We took a test on Unit 5 this morning.
Geography: A map of Italy was assigned for tomorrow.

Bible: Today w spent our time working with flash cards as review for tomorrows quest. It will have only 14 matching and there will be 4 type I statements that the kids have to respond to. (they only have to do 2 of the 4)
Geography: The section on Sweden: The Welfare State was assigned. Questions 1,2,3 and then either 4 or 5 were assigned as written work.
Our character trait today is FAITH, and our prayer country is Senegal.

BIBLE: Today we began our last lesson for Unit 5. A worksheet was given and I told them to spend 15 minutes on it and we will finish it next Monday. We will have a test on Tuesday covering the unit. It will be a fairly short one. Jeremiah memory work will be due Monday, February 4.
GEOGRAPHY: Our time today was spent on working on the poster/brochure of their chosen European country. I am starting to see some neat things put together.

MONDAY

Well, here goes the second semester. Hard to believe the year is half over.
In Bible today we read together a play on Hezekiah, "Like a Caged Bird" dealing with the seige of Jerusalem. Then there was a Moodle writing assignment.
In Geography we talked about traditions in Great Britain and read the section starting on pages 97. There was no written work given today.
Our character trait is Patience, and our prayer country is Nigeria. In Nigeria, 42% of the population in under 15 years of age, and the average life expectancy is only 47.

WEDNESDAY

BIBLE: Today we took a few notes on Hezekiah, king of Judah. This will give a little introduction to our lesson tomorrow.
GEOGRAPHY: In class today, we reviewed our last 36 D.O.G questions, and then had a quiz. We also just started a computer poster/brochure project on a European country of their choice. We will spend more class time tomorrow, and some next week.

BIBLE: We took on the book of Joel today, along with a sheet on "The Day of the LORD" as Joel predicted it. Ask the kids what was his version of it. (Hint- Locust)
GEOGRAPHY: We took a quiz on the cultures of Russia. The grades are already on Infinite Campus for you to check. Again double-check the grades to make sure there were no errors. I found another where I gave a girl 112 points instead of 12.

In Bible today we worked on the lesson, Judah is Judged. The kids had a worksheet to complete. Most were able to get it finished in class. Our next memory passage will not be due until late next week. We have to have a test before we get to it.
In Geography they were assigned pages 88-93, and then fill in a worksheet. I hope they get in the habit of reading carefully and reading all the little boxes and specials along the side of the pages. There are answers in them. We will again have a quiz which will mean we will not have a test to cover chapter 3.

FRIDAY

Welcome to Friday. Well, we started a little late, but we are up and running with just about everyone here.
With a shortened day, our classes are a bit shorter, so we did not get to a new Geography assignment today. But, we did do our daily D.O.G. assignment, and took a quiz on the Cultures of Eastern Europe. In Bible we used the remaining time to work on our "Comfort" booklets. The assignment was to spend np more than 15 minutes on them before turn-in on Monday. Bible memory was collected today, Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23.
Prayer country for today is Algeria.

WEDNESDAY

Sorry for missing yesterday. Just wait, old age is no fun.
In Bible today we just got started on an in class project that we hope to get lots done on tomorrow. It is a project type where the kids have to read a variety
of passages from Isaiah and then select a verse that has a particular image that they
then convert into a picture which will be part of a small booklet. Lots of fun and noise as they work on it.
In Geography we watched 4 brief videos on Eastern Europe, especially Hungary. The assignment from yesterday was carried over to tomorrow, as well as a brief quiz on pages 82-87.
Our prayer country today is Chad, and our character trait is creativity.

MONDAY

Welcome back. Thanks to all of you who sent along "goodies" before break. They were truely appreciated.
In Bible today we never really got started. I did spend some extra time on devotions, but tomorrow we will start an in class project. Our next memory assignment is romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23. It was on my side wall before class started today, so help get these in on time by Friday.
In Geography, we started to look at the cultures of Europe and Russia. The assignment is to read carefully pages 72-79 and complete a chart on Moodle. It is due Tuesday. Also, there will be a 10 question quiz on this tomorrow.
Our prayer country today is Ethiopia with 44% of their population under 15 years of age.
